Our community is our children’s home. By caring for it, we can ensure a brighter future for them!

WHY SLELC!

As parents in Regina, Saskatchewan, we understand the critical need for a quality early childcare learning environment. Securing proper childcare centers for our children has always been a challenge. The scarcity of subsidized, well-organized early learning centers often left us with no choice but to adapt to any available day home, whether regulated or not. Regardless of their status, regulated or non-regulated, these day homes shared a common issue: sudden permanent closures. This instability forced us to frequently move our children from one care provider to another while working full-time, just to maintain our jobs. Imagine the emotional impact on children due to these abrupt changes in their environment!

In addition, the illnesses of day home providers often led to unexpected closures lasting several days or even a week. This is unmanageable for full-time working parents like us, as our employers couldn't always accommodate these sudden changes. Additionally, we were concerned about our children’s well-being due to being confined in a single roomed, basement space with minimal ventilation in those regulated day homes. We were also troubled by their extended exposure to TV screens during childcare hours. These limited learning environments contributed in some learning struggles for our children. While they are catching up with considerable parental support, we recognize that not all parents are able to provide such assistance.

Despite these challenges, we are grateful for these day homes as they enabled us to continue working. They provided our children with opportunities to make new friends, socialize, and learn valuable behaviors aligned with our family values. However, we believe there should be an equal distribution of early childcare learning spaces, making them available and affordable for all children.

These experiences inspired us to create Sashlabelle Early Learning Center—a centrally located facility in Regina accessible to all. Our center features a clean commercial kitchen, spacious play and learning areas, and a large outdoor green space to ensure children are not confined to a single monotonous room while waiting for their parents’ return.

Our environment

At Sashlabelle Early Learning Center, we not only boastful of a safe, clean, and inviting environment designed to inspire curiosity and creativity, but also features learning centers equipped with age-appropriate materials and resources that support our children’s learning goals.

Our Team

We have a dedicated team of educators who are passionate about early childhood education. In fact, while the government policy only requires a minimum of one ECE level III certificate holder, Sash Labelle Early learning Center boasts of 50% our educators who hold ECE III certificate.   Each member of our staff is highly qualified, having worked with children under the age of 6 within school environment and understand their needs. They therefore have extensive training and experience in early learning. We are committed to providing high quality childcare support that ensures that children are taught with love in all areas of their development.

Parents involvement

At SLELC, we believe that parents should play an active role in their children’s learning, unlike many childcare centers or day homes where parents are mere spectators. We offer an open Saturday drop-in session where parents can spend quality time with their children in a learning environment. During these sessions, parents can observe their children demonstrating what they have learned and engage in teaching them using the resources available at our center. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to enhance their relationship with their children while supporting their learning journey.
